Château Angelus Tribute to Elisabeth Bouchet 2018:

An Exceptional Wine Heritage

For only the second time, the Hommage à Elisabeth Bouchet cuvée from Château Angelus has been released.

Coming from the oldest Cabernet Franc vines (also known as Bouchet on the Right Bank), this cuvée pays homage to the great-great-grandmother of Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, current co-owner and manager of the Château .

These vines, aged on average 60 to 80 years, plunge their roots into a terroir of fine, broken limestone, nestled on blue clay soils.

After having vinified these old vines individually in the past, this special vintage only saw the light of day in 2016.

In the future, it will only be produced in exceptional years, with vintages available from 2019 and 2020, with no release planned for 2021.

The 2018 vintage was entirely destemmed and vinified in concrete vats, followed by aging for 22 months in new French oak barrels.

A variation from 2016, around 20% of the 2018 vintage was aged in cask.

With an alcohol content of just over 14% and a pH of 3.65, this wine expresses all the power and concentration of Cabernet Franc, while maintaining incredible purity and precision.

Its woody character is harmoniously integrated, offering depth in the mid-palate and a solid structure.

Evoking in some way a hypothetical blend between the Château Angelus 2003 and 2005 due to its concentration, its richness and its sunny character, this wine of exceptional brilliance requires good aeration to reveal all its splendor today.

Ideally, it will be worth aging in bottle for at least a decade, promising exceptional longevity.

Only 849 bottles and 150 magnums of this unique vintage were produced, making Château Angelus Hommage à Elisabeth Bouchet 2018 a true rare pearl in the world of great wines.
