  • MOUTON CHÂTEAU ROTHSCHILD, 2015: The Elegance of the Plateau de Mouton

    The Mouton Château Rothschild 2015 embodies the quintessence of a great wine from the exceptional vines of the “Plateau de Mouton”, one of the choice plots within the 90 hectares of the property.

    These vines thrive in deep gravel soils, providing a sturdy anchor for their roots.

    Pauillac, cradle of this exceptional wine, gives pride of place to Cabernet Sauvignon, which predominates in the blend.

    Its footprint can reach up to 80%, along with Merlot and a delicate touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

    The harvest is done meticulously, exclusively by hand. Each berry is carefully scrutinized from the vineyard and upon its arrival in the cellar.

    Once destemmed, the bunches return to the vats, avoiding pressing. Each vat, adapted to the size of the different plots of the château, reveals its own personality.

    The aging, for around twenty months, is undertaken in the Médoc tradition, in new barrels.

    The wine benefits from topping and fining with egg white, ancestral processes which provide stability and precipitate solid particles to the bottom of the barrels.

    Most vintages present opulence, richness and depth, enriched with remarkable aromatic complexity.

    The aromas travel from blackcurrant to roasted coffee, including mint and fine leather.

    The distinctive feature of Château Mouton-Rothschild, if it needs reminding, lies in its annual collaboration with an artist for the creation of a unique label.

    Among these creations, we find works by Chagall, Braque, Picasso, Dali, Francis Bacon and even Prince Charles of England!

    The dress is a magnificent dark shade, adorned with subtle purple highlights.

    The complex nose combines finesse and elegance with fruity notes of wild blackberry and blueberry with touches of toast and fresh liquorice, intertwining harmoniously with notes of blond tobacco.

    The food and wine pairing proves versatile, harmonizing just as well with red meats as with poultry, cheeses or even desserts.
